Event Description: City Tech's Brooklyn Waterfront Research Center invites you to learn about the changes that have been occurring at 90 Sands Street. Built in 1992 as a residential facility for workers and missionaries of the Jehovah's Witnesses organization, it has long held some mystery for the DUMBO neighborhood. The story of its history, its sale to and repurposing by the nonprofit Breaking Ground, and its operation by the Center for Urban Community Services offers a vision of what transitional and permanent housing for chronically homeless people can look like in New York--even in affluent DUMBO.
