Event Description: The City Tech community is invited to "Plastic Lives: New Music for the Environment," by composer and media designer Dr. David B. Smith of the City Tech Department of Entertainment Technology. Smith was founding chair of Entertainment Technology, and then Dean of the School of Professional Studies. "Plastic Lives" was also composed by Dr. Thomas J. Parente. Professor Arnold Friedman of Berklee College of Music composed the eponymous piece "Plastic Lives" for this performance.
This production not only highlights the amazing voice of soprano and Cali School Voice professor Dr. Lori McCann, Associate Professor of Voice at Montclair State University, but it also provides the platform for the first iteration of blended performance. Other performers include Ryan Bridge, piano; Julian Dippolito, percussion; Tim Nuzzetti, percussion; and Caroline Desmarais, dance.
The performance will also highlight works by several visual design artists, including video by distinguished art director and motion graphics designer Josh Kapusinski of City Tech's Department of Communication Design.
The first of two performances will be held Saturday, February 18, at 8:00 p.m., at Leshowitz Recital Hall at Montclair State University, College Ave, Montclair, NJ 07043.
The Montclair performance will also be available through a live-stream at https://www.montclair.edu/john-j-cali-school-of-music/cali-live/.
A second performance will be held Saturday, February 25, at Boston Conservatory at Berklee in Boston, Massachusetts, 8 Fenway, Boston, MA 02215.
